Are You Wasting Your Life?

A lot of times, I’ll be sitting in bed at 3 A.M. staring at the ceiling and thinking about the most randomĀ things. Sometimes that is where I get ideas for my blog, others it is just me wondering how the world would be if we all could breathe underwater.

As a teenager, I happen to be a part of what we call “fandoms”. I refer to myself as band trash and follow the lives of people who don’t even know I exist. Last night, I thought about this in a little more depth.

What was I accomplishing by knowing things I really shouldn’t about these people? When I look back on my life, am I really only going to see that all these other people have done so much, but all I did was watch?

This isn’t necessarily the only case of wasting time. I live vicariously through others, but there are many other ways to lead a life that may not really be worth living.

You may just procrastinate(I also do this), or you are doing something that isn’t necessarily exciting or interesting to you.

None of these things seem to be good in regards to living life to the fullest.

While doing some of these things is perfectly fine sometimes, they most definitely should not get in the way of your actual life. Your life is just as important as the next person’s, so why shouldn’t you be doing something worthwhile?

There is an unfortunate fact that we all have to face one day and the sooner we do, the better.

Life is short.

While you may be thinking you have all the time in the world, life is flying by. There are so many things we may never get to do because we wasted all of our time that we could haveĀ been living life.

Now, thinking too hard about how short life is can lead to an existential crisis, which can be even worse than just sitting on a computer and scrolling through fan pages all day.

My suggestion is to just find what makes you happy, and do it. Spend time doing what brightens your mood and remember that you only have one life. One fragile, extremely short life.

What are you going to do with it?
